  • Read the terms of your policy - You need to know exactly what your policy says about the claims process. Policies usually state that the damage be reported as quickly as possible and lists the types of damage that will and will not be covered. If you are forced to leave your property during the restoration process, you should carefully track your living expenses while you are away.
